Greetings! My name is Lori Torres. Like you, I have multiple relationships that I balance in life. Wife. Mother. Friend. and hopefully to you, Therapist.
I am a native Charlottean. I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy at Pfeiffer University. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in North Carolina and have been an AAMFT Member since 2010.
I am a designated AAMFT Approved Supervisor and provide supervision to provisionally Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists. Additionally, I provide AAMFT Approved Supervisor Mentorship to supervisor candidates who wish to earn the AAMFT Approved Supervisor designation.
My approach in therapy is a collaborative, strengths-based perspective delivered in an empathetic, non-confrontational, and non-judgmental manner. I utilize integrated approach with influences of family systems, solution-focused, narrative, experiential, and trauma-informed theories to focus on servicing diverse populations.
Prior to Towers Counseling Services, I worked in community mental health at an agency whose focus has been on youth, teens, and young adults. There I provided intensive in-home therapy and outpatient counseling services. My last year there I served as their clinical coordinator providing clinical oversight to therapist in several different departments. In other outpatient settings, I have worked with individuals, families, and couples. My past experiences have exposed me to working with an enormously diverse population in individual, couple, and group formats. I have worked with a variety of presenting issues ranging from life stress, depression, complicated grief and loss, anxiety, family dynamics, to Couple’s and Premarital counseling.

Inside Our Office
I have a passion for working with adolescents, adults, and families in their transitional life stages and encouraging their personal growth and development as they are establishing themselves in the world. I help provide those in therapy opportunities for growth and building solid foundations for individuals, couples, and families. It is my belief and therapeutic practice that therapy is not a cookie cutter approach for everyone. Each individual’s treatment and goals will be created in a collaborative manner, personalizing it to the needs of the individual and contributing circumstances.
I hope that you and I will be able to work together towards building your foundations, establishing your goals for counseling, and creating a plan for treatment together.
Best Wishes,
Lori Torres, LMFT
